Rev. William A. Dickerson, Jr. is a native of Louisville, KY. He is a devoted son of the late William A. Dickerson, Sr. and Elizabeth Dickerson. He has been married to the former Pamela Anne Irvin for the past twenty-seven years and they have two wonderful children, Cynthia and Stephanie.
Earning numerous degrees, he holds an Associate of Science from Jefferson Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisville and a Masters of Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisville. After being called into the ministry he enrolled in the Masters of Divinity program at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and went on to obtain his Masters of Theology from Campbellsville University.
Pastor Dickerson acknowledged his calling to the ministry in December 2000 under the leadership of Rev. Curtis Crawford, Jr. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He obtained his leadership abilities by serving in many capacities at Antioch including Youth Recreational Director, Trustee, Deacon, Associate Minister, Building Project Leader and Interim Pastor. In 2007, he joined Little Flock Missionary Baptist Church as an Associate Minister under the direction of Pastor Bernard Crayton and was later appointed Director of Ministries.
Rev. Dickerson was called as the Senior Pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist on November 9, 2011. The church is located at 1500 Beech Street in the Park DuValle neighborhood of Jefferson County. God has truly ordered his footsteps.
Nicknamed as a “Son of Thunder”, by the late Dr. Curtis Crawford, Jr., he strives to preach and teach on the continued relevancy of the Bible in our everyday lives. Rev. Dickerson is committed to changing the lives of those forgotten by our society. Through preaching an uncompromising gospel, Rev. Dickerson desires that all people discover their divinely designed destiny.
Pastor Dickerson’s desire to reach others extends beyond the pulpit in his position as the Youth Director of the Central District Baptist Association (CDBA), the largest Baptist Association in the state, a member of Church Relations Council at Campbellsville University and as an adjunct professor for Campbellsville University in their undergraduate Theology department.
Rev. Dickerson’s favorite scripture is “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
